Mascara Monday: Avon Mega Effects Mascara.

This is the most differently shaped mascara wand I have ever seen. I was sort of afraid to even try it because it looks so intense. Have you seen the new Avon Mega Effects Mascara?

How to apply Avon Mega Effects Mascara | Beautiful Makeup Search

This secret to this mascara is obviously the multi-dimensional brush and straight forward application process. Now that you have seen it, let's take a look at it and how it works.

Avon Mega Effects Mascara

First, I didn't really know where to open, but quickly figured out to simply lift off the red cap. Inside, I see what looks like a paint brush in a cover. I pulled straight up (hard), and out came the little paint brush looking device.

Avon Mega Effects Mascara

This is no paint brush I must say. It is actually a comb that is curved a bit, just like the shape of the eye. On the comb are various lengths of soft plastic bristles that are crisscrossed on top of the comb. In the comb lies a ton of mascara. It actually holds 40% more mascara than an average mascara brush, making it easier to get the formula into lashes.

The handle is hinged and moves. I played with it to find where it exactly it felt most comfortable close to my eye. I did find it easy to hols once I had it correctly positioned, close to my eye.

The application process took some getting used too. I am so used to holding a wand horizontally over my lashes. To be honest though, by applying straight on, it is easier to see and get to each and every lash. It is especially great for bottom lashes, in my opinion.

The formula itself, was nice, and I found that I just need two coats to get a nice defined look with a lot of volume. Because you do get a lot of mascara on the brush, it does need a minute or two to dry between coats. I also don't suggest over using, because three or more coats can start to get clumpy. The mascara seems to last most of the day and I did not experience any smudging or flaking. With practice, this mascara definitely gets the job done.

Avon Mega Effects Mascara sells for $10.00 and is available now through your Avon representative or avon.com.

COVERGIRL Flamed Out Mascara Review.

I am a HUGE fan of COVERGIRL mascara. I have used just about every one that have, with my latest fave being LashBlast Clump Crusher Mascara. I have been using it daily since I tried it late last year. At night, I use it with another mascara for really bold - look at me - lashes. I almost didn't want to try their latest Flamed Out Mascara because I just love Clump Crusher so much, and didn't really have the need for another. But I've been hearing such good things that I just had to give it a try.

COVERGIRL Flamed Out Mascara Review

Flamed Out Mascara is very different in a big way - the brush. Just take a look at how different it looks. It is made with a thick nylon and wire brush with a little wedge, or indent in the middle. It was designed this way to more evenly coat lashes and deposit the mascara pigment all over lashes. By doing this, it helps to add a lot more volume to lashes, and helps them curl up and out at the same time.

Flamed Out is available in the following:

Very Black BlazeBlack BlazeBlack/Brown BlazeBrown Blaze

I found that I need a good two coats with Flamed Out Mascara to get my lashes looking how I like them. To apply, I brush up, like normal. For the second coat, I sort of roll the wand up my lashes. This is easy to do because the little indent sort of hugs the lashes. My lashes look great all day while wearing. I experience no flaking, smudging, or clumping.

Will it replace my favorite Clump Crusher mascara? I like Flamed Out a lot and I am more than impressed with it. For an everyday low maintenance, light makeup look, I'll probably use Clump Crusher. But for anything else, it will be Flamed Out for sure. I am also going to try layering both Clump Crusher over Flamed Out for lots of volume when I want a more dramatic look.

Mascara Monday.

With the new month here, I am starting a new feature: Mascara Monday. It's one that I actually started YEARS ago, in 2007 in fact. I never followed through, but I am going to be this time, at least for the summer. This one is going to be a bit different though. This one is going to highlight many of my favorite mascaras, ones that I may have even reviewed in the past, mixed in with new ones.

In collaboration with this feature, I am going to start a new Pinterest board called Mascara Monday as well. Do you follow my boards on Pinterest? In case you are not, follow me here: Beautiful Makeup Search on Pinterest. On my Mascara Monday board, I will pin all of my mascara posts that I have written over the years, along with others from some of my favorite bloggers. Hopefully this will help you find your holy grail mascara.

Check back later today to see a review of one of my favorite mascaras.

Mascara Monday: Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara.

Did you know that 82% of women wear mascara on a regular basis? And 80% of women surveyed said their brush was either too fat, too long or curved the wrong way to apply to bottom lashes.

Although a makeup-must, even the most highly acclaimed mascara aficionados find it challenging to apply mascara to teeny, tiny bottom lashes and keep the formula from smudging or flaking.  Thankfully, Clinique is here to help.  Always at the forefront of mascara innovation, Clinique’s new Bottom Lash Mascara is specially designed to reach those hard-to-find bottom lashes and lasts for 24-hours with a special long-wearing formula.

Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara Review | Beautiful Makeup Search

Exclusive to Clinique, the Bottom Lash Mascara micro-mini brush is one of the smallest on the market with the biggest job of enhancing smaller, more delicate lower lashes.  The unique precision applicator perfectly defines bottom lashes to create a naturally wide-eyed, lash look.  Housed in a beautifully designed silver floral patterned barrel, its miniature size makes it the perfect portable partner to any Clinique mascara.

Here’s a tip: For those who have short bottom lashes, hold brush tip vertically and wiggle through lashes then hold normally (or horizontally) to even out for a perfect application.

Choose from Black or Brown/Black.

Bottom Lash Mascara is available for $10 at Clinique counters and online at clinique.com.

Mascara Monday: Estée Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Lash Multiplying Volume Mascara.

Wimpy lashes, stand up and take notice. Do you crave volume but just can't seem to find the right formula? Look no further: Sumptuous Extreme Lash Multiplying Volume Mascara from Estée Lauder is for you.

What makes Sumptuous Extreme Lash Multiplying Volume Mascara extremely volumizing? It’s the combination of the lightweight Extreme Bold Volume Formula™, a special blend of three customized lash building fibers and the exclusive Extreme BrushComber™.

The Extreme BrushComber™ is a big brush in a new shape that gives you all the thickening of a brush with the definition of a comb. The brush holds more mascara, which means it will magnify and multiply lashes by delivering additional product and performance. The triangle cut is easy to use and reaches every corner of your lashes despite its big size.

The Extreme Bold Volume™ Formula is a new mousse-like formula contains a calculated blend of light-weight gels, polymers, waxes and pigments that create lightweight volume without clumping. A new blend of hybrid powders made of different sizes, spherical Silica and plates of Mica, maximizes volume to the extreme.

The Tri-blend Multiplying Fibers act like lash extensions as they fill in even the sparsest of lashes – to instantly magnify and multiply the look of lashes.

The results are amazing. My lashes are longer, thicker and more defined with volume, all while continuing to be flexible -- never brittle.

Which shade are you? This mascara comes in four expressive shades of Extreme Black, Extreme Brown, Extreme Indigo and Extreme Violet. I stick with Black, so Extreme Black is for me.

Mascara Monday: L’Oréal Paris Voluminous False Fiber Lashes Mascara.

I am a big fan of the L’Oréal Paris Voluminous line of mascaras. When I tried False Fiber Lashes Mascara, I was plenty excited. I love the look of flase lashes and do what I can to get that look without actually wearing them. And that is the point of this mascara.

You see, the power of False Fiber Lashes comes from two things - the brush and the formula.

L’Oréal Paris Voluminous False Fiber Lashes Mascara

The brush is slender, but full and thick with its slighly curved, cone shape. One coat and lashes are bold. Two coats and they are perfectly bold and bigger than you would expect.  Three coats, and you can start to get clumpy lashes, so be careful if you must, but stopping at just two coats is plenty of lash for me. My lashes look big and bold, almost fake, all day, with no smearing, flaking or clumping.

The formula is made up of dual-fibers, that utilizes a combination of super-fine nylon and rayon fibers. The ingenious mixture perfectly adheres to natural lashes, all the way from the root to tip, thanks to the special polymers in the formula. Lashes are lengthened and volumized, like you have probably never seen from just a mascara before.

False Fiber Lashes sells for $8.95 at your favorite drugstore or mass retailer. Choose from the regular formula in Black, Blackest Black or Black Brown; or the Waterproof formula (perfect for summer) in Blackest Black or Black.
